Have you seen the movie Ted 2? Do you remember the moment when Ted hashtags, #grrrrrmondays? If you have, you know what I am talking about. If you have not, I suggest you go to YouTube and see if you can find the clip about it.
It is Monday! Most of our society is programmed to dislike Monday. Even Garfield has his own Monday meme’s to keep the premise up. Most people work the 9-5 grind and are often working for the weekend, where unfortunately, they are often too tired to do the things they love.
If you are a person who loves Mondays or have a life you love and you do not work just for the weekend, then you already know what I am talking about. Please feel free to comment below and tell us how you did it?
Here are three easy tips to making an awesome week!
⦁ Write out three mini-wins for the week. Three things that when they happen you will feel successful and accomplished. It may be preparing a healthy lunch the night before work. Making an important phone call or setting the alarm a bit earlier to work out. Whatever you want your wins to be for the week. Plan it out and execute it. If you continue to do this on a weekly basis, in one month you have 12 wins, in three months you have 48 wins, and in one year you will have accomplished 156 wins! Way to go!
⦁ Pay-it-forward. The best way to feel good is to share with other people. Even if you feel crappy, remember that someone else probably feels like that too. What we feel and how we act will travel beyond ourselves just like the Butterfly Effect. So do something nice. Could you imagine a butterfly effect of crappy things happening? No thank you! Pass some good feeling around instead. It does not have to cost you anything. It may be a compliment to a friend or family member. Hold the door open to let someone through. Help someone walk across the street that is having difficulty. It may cost you a few dollars and buy a coffee for someone. I could go on and on and on…whatever inspires you to serve another person. Better yet, leave a comment below of something nice you did for another person.
⦁ Start laughing. Laughter is medicine. There is enough bad news in the world. Read some good news. Read a joke. Laugh with a friend. If you are home alone, lay down on the ground, roll around and start fake laughing. It will become real. I did a yoga class once where the instructors made us do this and she called it “laughing fish”. It worked! I visualized that I was a fish frying in a pan and soon I was really laughing while rolling around on the floor! If you do not want to lay on the ground you can sit or stand, and fake laugh. It will turn real. Laughter is soooooooo good. There are many statistics stating that kids laugh more than adults. Some of the stats indicate that kids can laugh as much as 400 times in a day and adults on average laugh only 15 times. Meanwhile, a lot of people suggest that adults need to laugh at least 30 times a day. I am not sure if the statistics are entirely accurate, but it’s certainly a good place to start. If you look around it is quite obvious that kids laugh more than adults. How did we get so serious, and how did we become so grouchy about #grrrrrmondays? Laugh more!
These are three easy things you can begin in your life right now that can make you feel happier. And a happier you is a happier world!
Here is my Monday mantra for everyone. “WAKE UP WORLD, IT IS MONDAY, AND WE’RE GONNA ROCK IT!”
We can play some classic rock ‘n roll music, like ACDC, or the Offspring, or Guns N Roses and dance it out, laugh together and remember we are all in this together.
So have an awesome Monday! You deserve it.
